Very friendly staff, not too busy, and plenty of seating inside and outside. The carne asada tacos and beans and rice was delicious! I highly recommend this place for great authentic Mexican food :)
Don Pedro Taco Shop
About this place
Don Pedro Taco Shop sits at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Davidson Street in Chula Vista, California, serving home-style Mexican cooking out of a compact dining room that has stayed a neighborhood fixture for years. Its small footprint keeps the setup intimate, making it an easy stop for a solo lunch or a quick family dinner without the wait of a larger restaurant.
The Two Enchiladas Plate, available with beef, chicken, or carne asada, is one of the shop's most ordered dishes, and the Carne Asada Fries consistently earn praise for the balance of guacamole, cheese, and sour cream piled on top. The Shrimp Bacon Egg Burrito is a standout on the breakfast menu, while the Shrimp Cocktail and Sope give the menu range beyond the standard taco-shop lineup. A rotating selection of house salsas adds heat to nearly every plate that leaves the kitchen.
Service moves quickly even during busy stretches, and the compact dining room keeps things casual and low-key rather than formal. Don Pedro's suits a fast breakfast, a working lunch, or a simple family dinner, with the shrimp tacos in particular earning long-term loyalty from customers who've been ordering them for over a decade. It's the kind of spot regulars return to specifically for one dish they've never wanted to swap out.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Service was very quick. The portions were very large and the food was delicious. We will definitely dine there again and try different menu items. Love it.
I ordered 1 azada taco, 1 carnitas ans 1 al pastor. Not one was any good. I didn't try any other of their dishes, but the taco meat was cold and the carnitas was not flavorful, because they drown it in guacamole and veggies. The folks that work there were very nice, though.
Both My daughters went to eat here today one had the birria special. My other daughter had a California burrito. Both got food poisoning!!! Be careful…
Tried to give them a second chance after having a bad burrito the last time I came here, which was sometime last year.I was met with a piece of plastic in my burrito and some tasteless meat. The burrito also gave me a really bad stomach ache.
I ordered the Carne asada fries (my go to) and they're the same taste every time! Fries, guacamole, cheese, sour cream. I ask for salsa Verde, it's my favorite from this place. For those that complain about the asada fries, go back and ask IN THE MOMENT for the staff to remake it! Don't be a baby on here 🙄As for customer service, there's one lady who seems to be in a bad attitude majority of the time. Doesn't really seem she wants to be there but that's not my problem! I'm here for the food, not the workers lol.
Don Pedro Taco Shop, is one of the best taco shops in all of San Diego. Their food is well prepared and done. Truly delicious. Jose and his team, served me and my dealership with great customer service. This is the spot to go to, if you want slamming tacos with good hospitality 🌮Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5
The service is incredible. I have tried so many dishes the past 23 years. There are incredible options of authentic Southern California Mexican Cuisine. My favorite would be the three roll taco special with guacamole, rice and beans. It is an incredible price for the entire South Bay area. The carnesada plate is so good and more than I can eat in one sitting. Last and so good are the pork hand made authentic Southern California tamales that brought me back to visting the lands of Guadalajara.
One of the best burritos I’ve ever had. Fantastic! We took it to go and went to a nearby brewery for a pint. Perfect! Highly recommended the California burrito.
